So I have already told you about some of my favorite skis this season from my few days of demoing. Now, I want to tell you about how to buy skis.
Skis are the most expensive and important piece of equipment you own, and you want them to fit you and your style of skiing perfectly. You have to decide, am I a cruiser just looking for slower, wider turns, am I going to ski a lot of powder, am I looking for a fast, powerful ski that holds quick, sharp turns? Obviously there are other styles of skis as well, such as racing and backcountry. But, you have to decide these type of things so the people in the ski shop can help you decide on width, length, rocker, etc.
Now, once you answer that question, or at least have a general idea of what you want, the next stop should be your local or favorite mountain. Go into the ski shop and start demoing. Try
I know this sounds simple, but it is a process. You need to pick what you feel comfortable on and what will allow you to ski the way you want. Think of it like buying a car. You wouldn’t just go to a lot and buy a random car, right? you would test drive a few and then make a decision. Skis are cars for the mountain, so test a few out and choose whatever suits you best!
